It depends which kind u have.... if u go to palm.com they well tell u if it can go on the internet.... if not u will need to buy a wire-less card for it..... Internet will be really different thou.... movies normaly don't play and not all pic.'s work.... u cant download things and expect them to work on the palm p. and last but least the plam p. will modify the web page to make it work on the screen...on messanger u will have to keep refreashing the page to see the messages....they dont just pop up like on a computer screen..... My daughter was born with a birthmark that covers the palm of her left hand, anyone heard of this before?
She is 3 years old, it has grown with her, her pediatrician says that she has never seen anyone have any pigmentation on the palm of their hands. Several other doctors agree, but no one seems to have any theories. It doesn't seem to bother her, actually, she seems pretty proud of it and likes to show it off!

Hello... Palms exist in this world as - Single stem trunk palm and Multiple / Multipled / multi stem trunks palm.
Examples of a single stem trunk would be Caryota no, Roystonea oleracea, Roystonea regia or even Cocos plumosa, [Queen palm].

These single trunk palm optimal sizes various from palm to palm. Example Roystonea regia, it can grow up to about 50ft to 70ft. But there are also dwarf types which stays almost the same height even they are growing. The shortest tropical palm is the Hyophorbe lagenicaulis. Its max. height is about 12ft only; about the height of a normal 1.7m person.

Also, single stem trunk palms can only be propagated through seeds. You cannot propagate them through cutting the stem and hope that new shoots will be produced from that cutting area.

Does anyone know where you can buy cold hardy palm trees in Missouri?
Looking for cold hardy palm trees around 5 gallon bucket size in Missouri. I need a palm tree that will survive winters that dip down to 5 to 0 degrees from time to time. Is there a nursery where I could pick one up? NOTE I am not looking for seeds I am looking for 5 gallon bucket sized cold hardy palms. Already established! Willing to spend up to 200 dollars. They're located near St. Louis. Otherwise, I would suggest listening to KMOX on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm when Mike Miller is on. If you call in, he could probably recommend a place. Sorry if that wasn't much help.
Reply:Ebay!!!! Needle palm I tried in ohio and windmill I needed to use sand as the soil to make it work I had sucess with a sago palm which was werid they arent hardy... I put straw around them in a something like chicken wire... I used anti fungi and deca stuff.... Good Luck, the best thing that worked was my banana trees !!! Two winters no problem... Japanise fiber banana... there are other names they worked wonderfully!!!! Good LUCK

I plant mine in the nasty clay soil in my back yard. It's so bad (clay) that the indians used to come here to get the clay to make their pots. I do add sand to break up the clay. So they will grow in most soils because they are survivors of hot salty climates. My advice is not to use soil that dries out easily. They really don't like to be pampered. I bought a sabal palm a couple of years ago and it was only a foot tall but the pot it was in was a foot and a half deep. They have a tremendous tap root that goes straight down. He told me to not overwater while it was in the pot, to let it almost dry out and then give it a good watering-soak it and then leave it alone. I not a good fertilizer but I believe he said something about occasionally fertilizing. It's in the ground now and ever so slowly growing. They are natural here and have been cut down and replaced with faster growing ones. Beware of sago palms, both the king and queen ones, there is a pest that is killing all of them here. It requires treating the tree with pesticide for its lifetime...and then you find out the palm is actually a huge fern. . .Large palm most likely to succeed in a pot-Chinese Fan Palm. One has straight leaves and another has droopy leaves with long tendrils-much prettier and could be a Washitonia. They are almost impossible to kill and come up everywhere like weeds. Be sure to get it outside in the summer for lots and lots of sun.

How big of a pot should I plant Trachycarpus Takil Palm and Chusan Palm Trachycarpus Fortunei seeds?
I am talking about palm trees. These are the palms that can grow in zone 6 and withstand below zero tempertures. I have a 10 seeds of each type. Should I plant each seed in there own pot or all pinch pots. I have no idea I am just afraid of planting them wrong and not being able to trasplant them since palm trees have very sensitive roots that are to be transplanted differently than other types of plants. I have never planted a palm tree. I know they have different soil needs than most palms. Also any tips on soil type, growing methods etc. Please let me know.

How much will i pay to have someone grind/remove the palm tree stump?
we're having our palm tree taken out by the local utility company,..they'll do it free of charge because its on the power lines....but there'll be a stump to remove too.....what does that usually cost in sacramento?

The easiest way to get out a stump is to do the following, as long as you are comfortable doing it and the stump is away from your house and the stump will fit inside a 5 gallon bucket
1. find a 5 gallon bucket and cut out the bottom so that both bottom and top are open.
2. place bucket over stump and fill with bag of charcoal.
3. douse charcoal with lighter fluid and light.
4.keep watch so that flames do not get out of control.
The charcoal will burn for almost 24 hours but when it is done the stump Will be ashes and you can work the ashes in with the dirt around where the stump used to be. Cover area with top soil and plant grass seed.
This is a inexpensive way of getting rid of the stump, it was taught to me by my dad and he learned it from his dad. It works great as long as you are comfortable doing so.
If not, it will probably cost at least $100 to have the stump ground down, depending on your area.
And not to question your intelligence here, but DO NOT use a plastic bucket for obvious reason. One time I could not find a bucket and used bricks to build a pit around the stump and that worked pretty well too, although it did not burn all of the roots and I had to dig some of them up before I could fill the hole.

I just had to reformat my hard disk. I backed up the complete Handspring(Palm Desktop) folder and all of its contents before the reformat. I currently do not have a PDA, so I used an external drive to back them up. I have now reinstalled the palm desktop software from the website back to my clean hard drive. I only need my address/contacts and my calender on my new software. What and where are the files that I need, and where do I drag them into for them to show up on my new Palm Desktop? I'm watching Saving Planet Earth on BBC1 (UK) and seeing what is happening to these poor creatures is heartbreaking not to mention seeing the beautiful rainforest being bulldozed to make way for palm tree plantations. Why can't something be done about finding an alternative to palm oil instead of just raising money to fund homes for these homeless wild animals. Why should we allow this to happen? It's a disgrace and something needs to be done.

I just purchased the Centro by Palm and its a really nice phone, however I cant figure out how to activate the screensaver. The manuel tells how to save a picture in the screensaver album but now how to actually make the screensaver appear.

Changing direction of growth of palm tree?
I have a small palm (5 ft.) that is growing at a 45 degree angle over my driveway. I was thinking of placing a board on the driveway to push the tree so it would grow straighter. I also thought about using a strap to pull on it to make it grow straighter. Would these methods work? Talking to it proved fruitless.

I would have to agree with Tenn. Take a pic w/ scale so the forum members can see it. You can try GardenWeb.com also. They have a palm forum. If it were me, I would dig it up and replant it straight - its only 5'.... Consider the amount of sun and perhaps change locations. I always use root stimulator when transplanting. Ask a forum member about that.

Its most likely leaning toward the sun.
( you see palms braced in florida to keep them firmly in the ground so they wont blow over ( they have very small root balls and those kinds of palms were most likely recently installed)
It has nothing to do in correcting their growth habit.
Since the palm is only 5 feet tall , (you might) could did it up (be very careful with the root system) and set it back in its hole a little more . I wouldnt recommend it howevcer because some palms dont like to be moved and if you do move them you have to cut off all the fronds so the roots can grow. Its weird I know but the FL state tree (also SC) Sable Palmetto is like that. I really think the palm will correct itself as it gets older . the trunk will grow tall and outgrow the problem concerning the drive way. There are over 3500 different types of palm trees , do you know what type palm tree your talking about. If you could ADD INFO about a specific tree I could help you more. They all have different needs and requirements. The common person just thinks palm tree.
There are palm trees that can live in OHIO - TENNESSEE - COLORADO - NEW JERSEY...I have palm trees taller than my house here in Tennesee but they were imported from India/China..they look like american palms only hardeier...so you see palms can be different in care.

Changing direction of growth of palm tree?
I would have to agree with Tenn. Take a pic w/ scale so the forum members can see it. You can try GardenWeb.com also. They have a palm forum. If it were me, I would dig it up and replant it straight - its only 5'.... Consider the amount of sun and perhaps change locations. I always use root stimulator when transplanting. Ask a forum member about that.

Its most likely leaning toward the sun.
( you see palms braced in florida to keep them firmly in the ground so they wont blow over ( they have very small root balls and those kinds of palms were most likely recently installed)
It has nothing to do in correcting their growth habit.
Since the palm is only 5 feet tall , (you might) could did it up (be very careful with the root system) and set it back in its hole a little more . I wouldnt recommend it howevcer because some palms dont like to be moved and if you do move them you have to cut off all the fronds so the roots can grow. Its weird I know but the FL state tree (also SC) Sable Palmetto is like that. I really think the palm will correct itself as it gets older . the trunk will grow tall and outgrow the problem concerning the drive way. There are over 3500 different types of palm trees , do you know what type palm tree your talking about. If you could ADD INFO about a specific tree I could help you more. They all have different needs and requirements. The common person just thinks palm tree.
There are palm trees that can live in OHIO - TENNESSEE - COLORADO - NEW JERSEY...I have palm trees taller than my house here in Tennesee but they were imported from India/China..they look like american palms only hardeier...so you see palms can be different in care.

About 6 months ago, I had a 10 foot palm tree fall on its own. I did noticed that there was something unusual about the roots at the base of the tree before falling. I now notice that same thing happening with another of my palms. It looks like the it's pulling up its own roots.
The nursery around my house mentioned that it was hard soil. I laid some gypsum down but this didn't help. I've recently fertilized the tree.
It looks like the roots are slowly pulling up towards the center at a rate of 1 inch per month. Soon this tree will be down. Any suggestions?

From what you have expressed, this sounds like a potential issue with the original planting of the Palm tree. First, trees are not capable of "pulling up" their own roots. This is more likely an issue with mass of the root ball becoming larger than the area provided in the initial planting. Typically a root system will bore into the soil to expand this area as the tree grows over time.
If this is not possible ( hard soil , rocky soil ) the root tips will still attempt to grow ( especially if fertilized ) and thereby create an upward pressure on the mass of the tree . In such a scenario, I would suggest expanding the viable soil area for the root system by tilling a greater radius around the existing area to promote root growth extending to at least 1 1/2 times the radius of the crown of the tree.
It is likely that the tree would need to be staked for support while the root system re-establishes itself. There are cautions that need to be taken due to known problems with palms and insect / disease via bark scoring / cutting.

Is there a version of Blackberry Connect that works with a Palm Treo 750W?
I recently bought a Palm Treo 750W from Cingular. My company uses Lotus Notes. Other employees at my company with earlier models of the Treo have Blackberry Connect (BBC) that pushes their Lotus Notes email from the Blackberry server to their Treo. I can't find a version of BBC that will work with my Treo 750W. Does one exist? If not, is it being developed?

I recently had tree guys cut and chop up these annoying bushes down to the stumps. Once they removed the main parts, they chopped up the leftover trunks to shreds. Then they told me how to keep them from growing back using rock salt.
I poured rock salt (the kind you use to make ice cream) in all the ragged crevices of the remaining stumps. This seems to have taken care of the problem. The salt apparently kills the roots.
From research I know this method works on lots of plant life, so it may work on your palm trees. It's cheap enough to try, anyway.

Questions about getting a tattoo on palm side of finger?
I was thinking about getting my initials tattooed on the palm side of my finger. Some people say it will fade right away others say it will last so I want to hear from people who have a tattoo there or on their palm. Also how long did it take to heal to where you could use your hand in everyday activities?

Reply:most tattoo shops will not guarantee their tattoos below the wrists and ankles..including the insides of your palms..you use your hands everyday and it WILL fade a hell of a lot quicker then if you got it somewhere else..also most shops make you pay for a touch up..my advice is get it done somewhere else..even getting it on top of your finger rather then palm side would be better..
Reply:I recently inquired about getting a tattoo on my hand and was told they could not go past the wrist.
It will fade in time they all do, just take care of it and have it touched up from time to time.

Reply:I have both palms tattooed. The first time I got the the first one , most of it did fade, but then the guy who re-did it, did it one dot at a time and very deep, and it stayed. When he did my other hand it stayed the first time. You just have to find some one who knows what they're doing. It did hurt more on the palms than other places, but I could use my hands right away, if I was careful. I've had mine for ten years now.
Reply:It will fade quickly and is really painful procedure (palm side is highly innervated and thus extremely sensitive to pain) ... it will take at least 10 days to use your hand after tattooing.
Reply:i have a friend who has a tattoo on his finger. it will take multiple applications for it to be a solid tattoo and it will still fade over time. he has had the tattoo done twice in four months and i think will have it done again this weekend. every time he goes to get tattooed he gets it done again because it looks patchy.

Reply:I have both palms tattooed. The first time I got the the first one , most of it did fade, but then the guy who re-did it, did it one dot at a time and very deep, and it stayed. When he did my other hand it stayed the first time. You just have to find some one who knows what they're doing. It did hurt more on the palms than other places, but I could use my hands right away, if I was careful. I've had mine for ten years now.

I know that on the West Coast, types of Palm Trees can grow (I am not sure if these are natural or just transplanted) as far north as Vancouver, BC, in Canada. I have heard that on the East Coast they occur naturally as far North as North Carolina. I have no idea about central North America.
So my question is what is the northernmost point that Palm Trees grow naturally on the East Coast, West Coast and in the centre of the continent, and what is the northernmost point on the East Coast, West Coast and Central that they can survive in if transplanted?
Lets say with natural conditions, that is, the climate is capable of supporting them without humans watering them, ect.

In movies you see monkeys climbing trees to get bananas, or climbing trees to get coconuts. My son is worrying about his strength and has learned about iron palm training, but im a little concern if hes the right age to train it (14 years old) is it alright to train it even though his bone structure is still growing?

Reply:it's ok... my hands were all beat up by age 16... break boards with fingertips, ridge hand on either side ... palm smash bricks, punch more boards than most 30 yo men in my class.... i broke my knuckles half a dozen times, and have one scar from a piece of brick, that got embedded in my hand... i am now 28 with fully functional fingers ... no problems whatso-ever, and i have been out of the breaking boards and bricks for 10 years... it is probably better at a young age before your body, actually "hardens"... because you reginerate faster.... as a parent myself.. i would hate to watch my child go through that... and if you are concerned, but still want him to get self defense training.... look into boxing or Muay Thai (Muay Thai is what i study now)... but then he will get hit in the face... black eyes, bruised legs.... but realize... your 14 year old son is learning how to become a man... pain is a very good life lesson... and working through pain is an even better one... when he learns to overcome fears or problems to achieve his goals... he will be a great man... good luck

Reply:it's ok... my hands were all beat up by age 16... break boards with fingertips, ridge hand on either side ... palm smash bricks, punch more boards than most 30 yo men in my class.... i broke my knuckles half a dozen times, and have one scar from a piece of brick, that got embedded in my hand... i am now 28 with fully functional fingers ... no problems whatso-ever, and i have been out of the breaking boards and bricks for 10 years... it is probably better at a young age before your body, actually "hardens"... because you reginerate faster.... as a parent myself.. i would hate to watch my child go through that... and if you are concerned, but still want him to get self defense training.... look into boxing or Muay Thai (Muay Thai is what i study now)... but then he will get hit in the face... black eyes, bruised legs.... but realize... your 14 year old son is learning how to become a man... pain is a very good life lesson... and working through pain is an even better one... when he learns to overcome fears or problems to achieve his goals... he will be a great man... good luck

What type of Internet does the Palm Centro have?
The phone I have now is the Motorola Q, and im looking into getting a new phone. Im trying to decide between the New Motorola Q9c and the Palm Centro. Before I decide I wanted to know if the Palm has just plain mobile internet or full internet like the Motorola Q has. I really love having the full internet options that motorola offers, but the price of the Palm Centro is so much more reasonable. Can someone help me out.

Planted 2 months ago. It gets plenty of water. I have been using B vitamins and palm tree spikes. It is starting to look a little droopy and some of the fronds are turning brown. Pineapple palm is doing great in same conditions.

Screen cracked and can't start a hotsync from the unit itself, but want to synchronize my data before handing the unit over to the service people. Any way to do this from the Palm Desktop?

Coconut palm tree full grown, where do you get one and cheap at that. I am in california.?

Here in Tampa there seems to always be free mature palms available due to construction, additions or change of landscaping.
You might also start to be aware of trees on lots that are marked for future construction [commercial and residential ].
Often these trees are removed and discarded.

To Make a Fake Palm Tree You Will Need:
1 Yucca Branch
Silk Banana Tree leaves
Power drill
Black Marker
The first step of to cut your yucca tree branch to the height you want. If you want yoru faux palm tree to be as tall as your ceiling when finished, then cut it about 1.5 feet shorter than the height of the ceiling.
You can also try using bamboo stalks in place of the yucca tree branch. Bamboo is more readily available at yoru local home improvement store.
Now, you will need about 15 or so silk banana tree leaves. These should be separated and have their own stiff stalk end to insert into the faux palm tree.
Now, at the top end of the yucca tree branch you need to drill small 1 - 2 inch deep holes to insert your silk banana tree leaves.
Simple take a black sharpie marker and make dots around the top 1 foot of the branch. Pre drill the holes where you made the marks.
Now, do not drill through the whole Yucca Tree branch.
If you are using bamboo you will see that it is hollow on the inside, which does not lend itself well to holding the banana tree leave in your tropical bedroom décor. So, use hot glue placed inside the hole to help secure the ends of the banana tree leaves.
You could also slide in some floral foam inside the hollow bamboo. This will give your leaves something to sick into.
The glue is also a fine idea if you are using the Yucca tree branch as well. Small kids may have a tendency to pull at the leaves. The glue will help hold together your fake palm tree.
Once you have all of your silk banana tree leaves in place you should start to bend them into dropping shape. Most likely they will be sticking straight out.
Your fake palm tree is finished. IN addition to a tropical bedroom decor this fake palm tree would also look good next to a tiki bar for a back yard party!
