What is a good palm tree to have next to a pool in Arizona?

I have just moved here (Arizona) from Indiana and am going to be doing some landscaping in my backyard now that my pool is complete. I want to include some palm trees, but I'm not sure which ones will be less invasive or require less maintenance. The lamdscaper recommended queen palms, but they're not the prettiest things I've ever seen :)

You may find that not all paoms grow well in your area. You have to take into consideration both the summer heat and the winter cold (there are areas in Arizona where it snows!).

My best suggestion, since you have already checked with your landscaper, is to go to a local nursery (not a home improvement store), but a nursery that has been in business in your area for a long while.

The people there should have really good info on what will grow in your area and may have something more to your liking. I happen to love Queen palms.
Reply:canary island date palms and sago palms are great. also mazari palms are very strong. mexican fan palms are a bit too common, but are nice as well.
