How far down does palm tree roots go down?

Since palm trees don't fall over when storms come into S FL, I was wondering how far there roots go down and how do they not fall over.

This tree is a root surface plant. Its roots only go down about 6 feet at most because of the salt in the soil. Hope this helps.
