How cold hardy is the windmill palm?

Hello. I live in zone 7a and would like a windmill palm. I have heard mixed opinions on its cold hardiness. I was thinking of putting chirtmas lights over it. Is this a good idea?

thanks

Reply:my sister lives in zone 7/8, that christmas light idea is what she is doing for her palm.

RRRR
Reply:The windmill palm is one of the most cold tolerant of the fan palms. It can survive 20 deg. F winter temperatures. However, with your zone 7 average winter temps. of 0 - 10 deg. F, it would be too cold.
